Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I was nominated for this award by my beloved bestie in bloggery, Suze. Of course, as is to be expected, as this crazy cookie is nominating me for all kinds of awards! Constantly. Love the wild woman but gosh she gets so many awards, it’s a wonder I ever get any that she isn’t nominated for first! I originally intended to do this post a couple weeks ago, but then Suze had to make her blog vanish into thin air, so I couldn’t. Dang you Suze! Thankfully, Suze is back and I can finally thank her for her bloggery nomination thingies! First one for now is the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. Never heard of it before, but thanks for the award Suze! LOVE YOU!

These are the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award’s rules :

Thank the blogger who nominated you
Answer the questions they posted to you on your blog
Include the award logo in the post
Nominate 10 more women bloggers (since it’s a “sisterhood”)
Ask 10 questions of your nominees

Well, I already thanked Suze… I think… If not, THANK YOU SUZE! The questions are down below, and the logo is above some writing somewhere. I’m totally anti-nominating people lately because I’m in a tad of a dry spell, so you can kiss my bum. I don’t even know if I know ten female bloggers.

Suze told me to just use the questions she was asked, so here are the questions.

Where is your all-time favourite destination?
Home. I’ve not been home in quite some time though. For me, Oregon is home. Where some of my best memories are.
Which post are you most proud of?
Oh gosh… Uh… It’s a three-way tie, to be honest. I really felt passionate and proud of 3 posts I’ve written to date. They’re on the topics of Racism, Immigration, and Feminism.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party, alive or dead?
My mom, Suze, the Geekette, Angie, I might be nice enough to invite their husbands. Then there are the other crazy ladies I’ve fallen in love with over the years like Viv, Patricia, Caidy, and my oldest and longest standing friend, Gabby. I’d rather be surrounded by people I appreciate that I feel would appreciate me.
Do you have a favourite vacation country or city?
Not really, but then I’ve only ever been on vacation once and it was for a day. Cincinnati Ohio.
What’s your favourite and least favourite thing about blogging?
I love having a place to put my thoughts out there, where it will forever remain. The only thing I dislike is that sometimes it is hard to organize my thoughts into a coherent post, so I don’t write anything because I don’t know what topic to write about. My brain is sort of a giant jumble, thoughts going every which way. I need a idea or thought to centralize my focus on in order to write.
Is there anything you like to do any time you visit somewhere new?
I love finding the coffee shops. I’m a giant fan of coffee, especially artsy old fashioned coffee shops that don’t really pander to the technological age of “technology is everywhere.”
Where is somewhere you’ve been or something you did that you didn’t expect much of, but ended up loving?
When I first started trying to read, I had a lot of difficulties. So much that it got to the point where I figured if I ever managed to learn to read, I would hate it. As it turns out, learning to read was exactly what I needed, it helped me find new worlds to explore.
What’s your pet peeve?
Stupid people. I really can not stand stupid people. Ignorance is fine, it can be corrected. Stupidity however is unforgivable.
What’s your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession is a little wooden box I made back in highschool, woodshop class. It holds all my little momentoes, including photos I had done of my son’s first christmas. It also has his crib card and birth certificate and my copy of his SS card.

Since I’m not nominating anyone, feel free to accept this award if you’d like to have it on your blog. Have at it, and use the same questions I answered because I’m too numb to think of questions to ask. Have a lovely day!

The Creative Blogger Award

To be honest, I’m astounded this award was given to me, I wasn’t really expecting it when Suze came at me on my homepage and said, “You….yes YOU! Have been nominated for the Creative Blogger Award! go forth and blog about it!” Her on the other hand, she’s a phenomenal blogger. I absolutely adore reading everything she writes and I enjoy our conversations very much! I guess I should get on with it and stop praising her, after all the award is supposed to be about me! Haha.

Okay, so first I’m supposed to thank Suze.

Thank you Suze!!

I’ve probably already put a few links to her blog somewhere around here, there are some directly off to the side of the page if you’re in a browser. If you’ve not checked out her page, I recommend you do so. The woman is always a hoot.

Well I already listed the rules, I’m in the process of writing the blasted post so get off my back and the award is right up there! Look for yourself! Guess the next thing to do is share 5 facts about myself… Hmm…

1.) I love fire. I’m absolutely mesmerized by the sight of flames. I am an absolute pyromaniac. Coincidentally, today’s prompt is flames. Go figure.

2.) I love animals to an insane degree. I even feed the squirrels and chipmunks in my area whenever I see them out. I think they’re actually starting to warm up to me!

3.) I tend to wear a lot of mono-tone clothing. Black primarily, but I’ve begun branching out with the thanks of a wonderful little site, JustFab. I got a nice pair of light blue flair bell bottom jeans from there and a nifty green top! My wardrobe is still like 99% black though.

4.) I love DC Universe and Marvel comics, as well as movies. I love them so much that I even got a exclusive T-shirt featuring Deadpool saying “Tacos” !!! Yes, I suppose I’m nerdy. What of it?

5.) I’m apparently funny even when I’m being serious, which confuses me. I’ve been told I could be a comedian based on some of my life experiences and the way I tell the stories about my life. Though it could be in part to the fact that I like using funny voices and narrating my own life story as if I were the fellow who narrates George of the Jungle. Playing Cards Against Humanity is a total blast, they always try to make me read the question then everyone else’s responses.

Okay, now for the last part of this whole shindig… Nominating 5 people. Gosh, why all these rules?! I’m just going to nominate those that inspire me, or make me die of giggles, because you guys are the ones who help me make it through my days! Okay, to the nominating!!

Sprawly Always sharing beautiful photographs that are mesmerizing. So many hues, and so inspiringly gorgeous.

CalicoJack whom I’ve been silently stalking but not yet fully established a complete following of through the wonderful BMU. They’ve been keeping me chuckling throughout the whole election business.

Dylan someone whom I’ve found a fellow geek in. I enjoy stalking his blog silently in the night as the noise settles in my home. Very interesting fellow, I suggest you give him a look see!

Mliae Her blog is about the experiment we call life. She does reviews, real live things that matter, and she does it with pizzaz! I met her through one of her blogging parties and I have to say, I’ve not yet been disappointed by her writings!

Paul I met this wonderfully hilarious and sensational man through Suze, I must say, I find his writing style to be both different and hilarious. I wish I had someone like him for an uncle, I’d of had the most hilarious childhood! Or even a brother, that’d of been nice too! Seriously, go read this mans blog. You won’t regret it. Your pants and chair might, but you won’t!

Okay, I think that about sums it up! Cheers to those I nominated, if you accept and write me a pretty blog I’ll forever be eternally grateful!

MakeItUltra Blog Award!

make it ultra

Oh my goodness, Suze you whily rascal! I’ve been nominated for the MakeItUltra™ Blog Award, and I’m absolutely flabbergasted as to how she thinks I deserve this! I freaking love you woman, you deserved it but not me… Anyhow, onto what the award is for!

The MakeItUltra™ Blogger Award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers for quality content, originality and presentation. The intention of this award is to encourage connectivity and support in the blogging community and to increase exposure for individual bloggers.

The Rules: If you have been nominated for the MakeItUltra™ Blogger Award and choose to accept, write a blog post about the MakeItUltra™ Blogger Award in which you:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog on your blog. Take a moment to positively promote the person who nominated you.

2. Display the award on your blog by adding it to your post and/or displaying it using a widget on your page (Save the image to your computer and upload it to your blog post).. Don’t forget to use the tag #MyUltraAward when you make your post!

3. Answer the following MakeItUltra™ Blogger Award questions.

4. Nominate 1-8 blogs that you feel deserve the award and provide links.

5. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here).

6. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the MakeItUltra™ Blogger Award and provide a link for them to your post.

So the first rule says I have to thank the silly mad hatter I mean Suze who nominated me lol thank you Suze!!! You silly woman. There are probably a bajillion links to her blog all over my blog because she is my #1 stalker, and also #1 stalkiee! For those who can’t find the links, there’s probably close to half a dozen in this post alone haha

You do not need to be nominated to make nominations!

The questions:

What is your name? Shay

Where are you from? Oregon

How long have you been blogging and why did you start? Alternate question if you have answered this previously: Why do you continue to blog and does it meet your original expectations? Gosh, I’ve been blogging for half a year now. It started out as a way of trying to clear my head of all my thoughts. I think a lot, about a wide variety of things. Sometimes I need some help with what to blog about, since there are too many thoughts swarming around inside my head! Being given a topic really helps me narrow my thoughts into one semi-coherent string of words which turns into a post!

What are you most proud of? I’m most proud of my children, they are so bright and amazing, even when they’re driving mommy bonkers!

What are your blogging goals? Honestly I just want something that my kids can look back on and reflect upon later in life and just know from reading my drivel that yes, they come from pure grade A crazy stock ! I got it from my mom, and my kids got it from me!

How do you spend your free time? If I’m not taking care of my kids, I’m either sleeping or blogging!

State five random facts about you.

I hate watching sports but love to play sports.

I was 5′ 9 before having kids.

I have given birth naturally 3 times.

I think royal purple, black, and lime green are the three most amazing colors ever when put together either in clothing, or paintings.

I own and know how to handle and care for a Beretta U22 Neos, as well as an HP22A.

As for nominating anyone, there is only one person whose blogs I’ve been able to keep up with lately aside from the one who nominated me, anyone else who would care to accept the award is more than welcome to!

BlackCat, BlueSea Award

So unbeknownst to me, I was nominated for this award twice. Apparently, Suze nominated me for this the same day Rashida nominated me! Holy diddles. I didn’t realize I was so gosh darned popular!!! So thank you, to both Suze and Rashida, for being such absolute sweethearts.

The Rules:

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate up to seven other bloggers.
  2. Anybody nominated answers three questions. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions. If any of the questions asked are offending or simply do not want to be answered, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.

The 3 questions that I need to answer:

  1. Do you see blogging as a future career or just a side hobby?
  2. Who has made the biggest impact on your life?
  3. What is your greatest strength and what is your gravest weakness?

Well, I honestly just see blogging as an outlet of ideas and I enjoy doing it for fun really. Getting my thoughts out into the open in the world and seeing how others react is fascinating, so I would have to say it’s more of just a really fun hobby.

Biggest impact on my life… I think that would have to be my mom, followed quickly by my husband then my children. If it weren’t for my mom, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

I personally believe that my greatest strength is also my greatest weakness. That would have to be either my OCD or my bluntness. You see, they sort of go hand in hand. If I’m not brutally honest, and I mean literally speaking my mind as it comes to me, I kind of twitch and fidget and blunder until I finally just scream/yell it. My OCD comes in many different forms, but it is part of my OCD that created my bluntness. That and the fact that I got tired of being a bad person by lying. I find honestly is truly the best policy. If I hurt your feelings, sorry, but there is only one special snowflake in my life and that’s my mom. Even with her, I’m still honest, I just tend to pick my words a tad bit more carefully sometimes.

I am a rule breaker, so instead of nominating people, I’m opening this up for anyone to nominate themselves. Those who wish to nominate themselves, here are my three questions for you.

  1. What about life brings a smile to your face?
  2. If you could pick three things to take with you to a deserted island, what would you bring?
  3. Retell a life experience that altered your perspective, and how did it change your perspective?

Well, that’s all for this award today! Happy blogging!

A Fair Day PT 8

Charlie looked at Niel in surprise, his brow raised. Niel’s face was contorted in a look of confusion and bewilderment as he gently pushed one of the great big doors open. What met their gaze caused both men to nearly collapse to the floor in laughter. Across the great room there stood poor Mary trying with all her might to light a fire with a wet tinder box. It was quite a sight for the gentlemen to behold, the moderately tall female jumping up and down, her skirts flouncing about as she would kick at the bits of wood that refused to light. She hadn’t noticed the men yet, who were doing their best to keep their laughter quiet. Suddenly she swore, loud enough it echoed down the hall faintly, “Shit!” At this moment both Charlie and Niel lost all sense of composure and were crumpled heaps of laughter now, howling as they looked on. Mary whirled around, her face turning a shade of scarlet that couldn’t possibly be seen as healthy. Her bright eyes became wider than saucers, she gathered up her skirts and ran from the room with a hand clasped over her mouth.

Charlie did his best to regain his composure, nudging at Niel to get the fire started as he got up to his feet, still laughing as he went after the maid. He called after her, “Mary, Mary come back now. Don’t be embarrassed.

Niel was left in the grand room, by himself. It took him a few minutes to be able to breathe again. Once he was capable, he finally stood up and headed over to the fireplace, holding his now hurting sides from laughing so hard. He fiddled with the tinder box, trying to see what it was that was making it not light and realized the wood in the tinder box was damp. He shook his head and knew that he would have to go out and get some proper dry wood in order to start a good fire to keep the great room warm for all its expected occupants.

Charlie kept chasing Mary, following the sound of her footfalls through the hallway that led from the great room to the massive dinning room, turning just in time to catch her as she ran into the kitchen. The cook was startled when she saw an out of breath and panting Mary quickly followed by the chasing Charlie run into the kitchen. “My Lord, Good Heavens what on earth are you two doing in here at this hour?

Charlie grinned and held up a finger, asking for a moment as he lightly grabbed the maid’s hand and led her back into the dinning hall intended for great feasts. Mary opened her mouth to say something, but he quickly put his finger he used to request a moment over her mouth, “Shh, it’s okay. I won’t tell anyone what we heard. Lieutenant and I are going to get the fire started in the Grand Room. I apologize for startling you, but you must realize what a sight it was!

The maid shuffled her feet and looked at the ground, “Aye, yes Sir, but it is improper of a lady, maid or not, to speak in such a fashion, Sir.

He shook his head, “It is, but I feel it may very well have been warranted. Come back with me to the Grand Room and rest a moment while Lieutenant Niel and I help in getting the fire together.

She nodded and allowed him to guide her back to the room where he got her seated in a chair. Looking around, he saw his cousin headed for the foyer, to which he told Mary to wait there and he would return as he walked after Niel. When he caught up with his cousin, he whispered, “Don’t say anything to anyone about what the maid said, I think she is quite embarrassed about the whole situation and would rather not cause her grief.

Niel nodded, then handed Charlie one of the hatchets he’d found by the entrance to the grand room, “We’re going to need to chop some wood. Hope you’re up for the task.” he joked, poking at his cousins strong muscular arms. “Looks like we’ll be putting those sad excuse for muscles to work tonight.

Charlie let out a groan and accepted the hatchet and followed him outside and off to the side of the inn where they had a wooden chopping block, stacks of logs just waiting to be split. Niel lit the lantern that stuck out from the side of the inn. Both of them took off their jackets and waistcoats, rolled up their sleeves and begun swinging. The two men took turns chopping logs into splits of three each. Not long and poor Charlie was overcome, having to take off his button-up. He could see there was a small speck of blood on the bandages. Shrugging it off, he resumed taking turns chopping splits of wood for the fire. Soon enough they had enough to make a decent stack of extra chopped wood to stack against the inn. Charlie leaned up against the building, after having stuck the hatchet into the chopping block. His cousin came over to him, prepared to give him a gentle ribbing before he noticed the bandages in the dim light of the lantern.

What happened to you?” He asked, a look of concern now covering his face.

Charlie lifted his head and grinned at Niel, “I was struck by a young lady wielding a parasol.” He let out a pained chuckle at the look of surprise on his cousins face. “Help me back inside, I’m sure Harold can find a way to get the wood inside. I’ll tell you about it on the way back to my room. I needed to change clothes anyway.”

Niel nodded and gathered up their jackets and waistcoats in one arm while he helped his cousin inside, bracing Charlie with his other arm as he was regaled with the incident that led to Janielle striking Charlie with her parasol and it’s ever so sharp point.

I was inspired to write this addition in part due to Mon nominating me for The Creative Blogger Award. So thank you, Mon, for nominating me and inspiring me to continue on with my mini-serial story chapter thingy. There aren’t really any rules as to what you have to do, or write or anything, but the title of the award itself is what prompted me to write today’s excerpt.

the-creative-blogger-award-e1437994823434 (1)

The rules are:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
  2. Add the logo to your post.
  3. Nominate ten (10) bloggers of your choice and
  4. Tell them about the nomination

Well… I think I’m just going to let people nominate themselves if they want the award. Nominating people has become tiresome lol but I love the award so I’m totally snagging it! HA! Take that, rules!

Black Cat, Blue Sea Award

Now this just sounds silly in my opinion. The title of the award, I mean. Seriously, doesn’t that sound just like the silliest name ever? Black Cat, Blue Sea Award!!! I giggle each time I read it, write it, or say it!

I’d like to throw a big thanks to Rashida Aka MaKenzye for nominating me for this award. I’d never heard of it until yesterday when I found out I was nominated for it! I’m so super stoked! Okay, so you’re probably wondering like I did, “What in the world is this award for? What’s it about?” Confused like me? Yea, I had to dig around in Rashida‘s own post to figure out just what in the world it was about. Here we go!

This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.

Well, I guess that does actually sound a lot like me. I love to blog, love to write, and most importantly, I love the idea that my words are out there and might comfort someone else, even if I never hear from them or know them. So thank you, Aka MaKenzye for nominating me and recognizing my insanity! Yay!

The Rules:

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate up to seven other bloggers.
  2. Anybody nominated answers three questions. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions. If any of the questions asked are offending or simply do not want to be answered, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

Well, I guess since she didn’t actually ask any specific three questions, I’ll just answer the three questions she was asked, then I’ll throw you all under the bus and make you answer something weird because I’m just evil like that. *devious giggle*

3 questions that I need to answer:

  1. Who was the first blog/blogger you heard of/read and did they inspire you to start?
  2. Do you see blogging as a future career or just a side hobby?
  3. What is your all time favorite album and why? How does it make you feel to listen to it?

Hmm… Okay, guess I can do this!

  1. Suze was the first blog/blogger I ever read, it was the blog about her beautiful colorful childrens keyboard that she got because she’s just that awesome. I found myself laughing and nearly dying at the same time, and soon running to the bathroom just to stop from tinkling on myself. Her whimsy and way with words made me think that maybe I too could one day be a blogger and be comically hilarious, or dubiously serious. You never know, my writing is kind of all over the place! She definitely was my inspiration for wanting to start blogging.
  2. Blogging isn’t a career, it’s something fun to do to cleanse the mind of all the insanity that keeps rattling about inside my brain! My full time job is my kids, and trust me, that is a full time job.
  3. My favorite album ? Uh… Disturb’s Darkness count? I grew up listening to that CD and I still to this day as an adult listen to it often. Of course, I don’t have the CD anymore, but I still love the songs and listen to them often. I don’t really know how to put into words how it makes me feel when I listen to it… It’s sort of a melancholy somber with a spark of hope? If that makes any sense what so ever. If you could actually get into my brain and feel how I feel when listening to that CD, you’d know just how hard it is to put into words!

Okay so now I get to ask any three questions of YOU (who ever I nominate, as I’ve not decided who yet) so here goes nothing, you better hold onto your britches because this might get crazy.

  1. What are your favorite 3 blogs and what makes them so uniquely special to you?
  2. What are three things you’ve learned during your time blogging that you never knew before?
  3. Do you have 3 favorite movies? If so, what are they and what makes them so amazing?

AND NOW! The pièce de résistance !!! For the poor souls I’m going to nominate.

Blogger Recognition Award

So I was shocked and amazed a day or so ago when I was nominated for this award. Shock and awe would aptly describe my feelings towards being given this award, to be honest. I figured awards like this were meant for… You know, good bloggers! Not whackados like me. Much thanks to Suze for nominating me, I freakin’ adore that woman.

blogger recognition award

Enough gushing and onto the rules, I suppose!

The rules for this award are:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Attach the award to the post.
  • Give a brief story on how your blog started.
  • Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you nominated them and provide a link to the award post you created.

Well, considering I’m pretty sure Suze already nominated anyone I would have nominated myself, I’m not following that rule. Anyone who would like the award is free to accept it instead! HA! Take that rule!

Okay so I’m supposed to thank Suze, which I think I already did, but in case I didn’t, thank you Suze you adorable person you! yay

I’m already writing a post, and attached the award so I guess that’s done already… Hmm… A brief story on how my blog started… Lets see…

My Story

One day in a far far away world, a little person asked a big person about making a new world in a far and distant land. In this story the far far away world will be called Facebook, and the new world in the distant land will be WordPress. While traipsing through Facebook and mumbling and bumbling about with the little person’s friend, they asked how they came to be so infamous and amazing. The friend told the little person about this amazing place where they could shout their thoughts out into the big wide universe of worlds where many saw their words, and this place was called WordPress! The little person was amazed and awestruck at the idea of such a place where many people could hear the words of ones insanity, and thus the new little planet of Sunken Thought emerged.

Be yourself but remember, don’t be daft. If you’re daft, I recommend not blogging because daft people are more likely to clash than to mingle. Also, live long and prosper and “wibbly wobbly timey whimey”. That is all.

Okay, so yea, feel free to nominate yourselves through this post if ya wanna, otherwise, I’m tired and my brain function is dwindling. Love you crazy people, and hope you had an amazing weekend!
