#MyFirstPostRevisited from March 14th 2016

I was nominated, as always, by Suze to do something new. Again. This whacky woman loves to drag me into these nominating things, but she knows I refuse to nominate people because I don’t like bugging people, I think she just likes seeing me go off on a whacky tangent about unintelligible things. She seems to really immerse herself in my writing when I blather on about inanities during a nomination post! Either that or she likes all the flattery I write about her… Maybe I should stop. I haven’t decided yet.

Either way! Today is about 3 things! First off, this is my 1 year blogging anniversary! HIP HIP HOORAY!

Secondly, this is about a post from my first day of blogging and a little thing I’m currently working on!! Okay – rule time. I guess… >_> Darn silly Suze and her nominations always having rules.

Here are the Rules:
– No cheating. (It must be your first post. Not your second post, not one you love…first post only.)

– Link back to the person who tagged you (thank them if you feel like it or, if not, curse them with a plague of ladybugs). I curse Suze with a billion caterpillars… In cocoons !
– Cut and paste your old post into a new post or reblog your own bad self. (Either way is fine but NO editing.)
– Put the hashtag #MyFirstPostRevisited in your title.
– Tag…um…five (5) other bloggers to take up this challenge. Yea, I’m so not doing that, kiss my tuckas.
– Notify your tags in the comment section of their blog. Sure, I’ll do that in invisible ink.

– Feel free to cut and paste the badge to use in your post. There is a badge?! WHERE?! I LOVE BADGES!
– Include “the rules” in your post. Uhg I hate rules.

Well … Onto my first ever post. It was a bit of a doozy.

Something To Think About

I have been facing a dilemma for some time now, and I have yet to come up with a solution. I have a habit, you see, a very bad habit that seems to be common among a great portion of the world. Most people in their mid twenties to their mid thirties and the generation before that grew up with this bad habit, before there was ample research done to see just how bad it really is. Most who had wise parents who sought the information tried to stop their children from starting this bad habit before it became a life long grudgingly horrid constant in their lives, but growing up with it… Well that makes it hard, and when you grow up with friends that do it, it becomes appealing until you realize you too can’t seem to stop.

You see, I am a smoker. I have been trying to quit for a year almost. I’ve tried the cold turkey, I have tried patches and gums, I even managed once to quit. Sadly that was short lived and in vain, since at that time I was living with chainsmokers. It wasn’t long before I was back on the smoking bandwagon and feeling miserable all over again. The frustration of trying to quit something so addicting and the sensation of feeling so useless because every tactic doesn’t seem to work.. It can be very overwhelming for a person who just wants to be healthier and happier.

As the ongoing struggle continues, I keep reminding myself that one day I will be free of this habit. I will not give up on stopping, no matter how vain my attempts may be. I know that at the end of this long and dreadfully miserable journey, happiness and a healthier me is waiting.

So there is my original post, kind of disappointing and depressing and bleh. I have good news though! My husband and I decided this weekend, on the eve of our 5 year anniversary of being together, that we’re going to work together! Here’s the post I put on my blog Facebook page on March 12th, our 5th year anniversary.

Awesome, right? Full of hope and joy and excitement and frustration all at the same time! WOOHOO! I’ve only had 1 cigarette in the past 48 or so hours! So in celebration of not just 1 anniversary but 2 anniversaries, I want to make a shout out to all the people who read my blog and say thank you. Thank you for being here, thank you for reading my insane ramblings, and finally thank you for being you.

If anyone would like to take on this challenge, you can self-nominate like Suze did! Love you all!!!

BlackCat, BlueSea Award

So unbeknownst to me, I was nominated for this award twice. Apparently, Suze nominated me for this the same day Rashida nominated me! Holy diddles. I didn’t realize I was so gosh darned popular!!! So thank you, to both Suze and Rashida, for being such absolute sweethearts.

The Rules:

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate up to seven other bloggers.
  2. Anybody nominated answers three questions. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions. If any of the questions asked are offending or simply do not want to be answered, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.

The 3 questions that I need to answer:

  1. Do you see blogging as a future career or just a side hobby?
  2. Who has made the biggest impact on your life?
  3. What is your greatest strength and what is your gravest weakness?

Well, I honestly just see blogging as an outlet of ideas and I enjoy doing it for fun really. Getting my thoughts out into the open in the world and seeing how others react is fascinating, so I would have to say it’s more of just a really fun hobby.

Biggest impact on my life… I think that would have to be my mom, followed quickly by my husband then my children. If it weren’t for my mom, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

I personally believe that my greatest strength is also my greatest weakness. That would have to be either my OCD or my bluntness. You see, they sort of go hand in hand. If I’m not brutally honest, and I mean literally speaking my mind as it comes to me, I kind of twitch and fidget and blunder until I finally just scream/yell it. My OCD comes in many different forms, but it is part of my OCD that created my bluntness. That and the fact that I got tired of being a bad person by lying. I find honestly is truly the best policy. If I hurt your feelings, sorry, but there is only one special snowflake in my life and that’s my mom. Even with her, I’m still honest, I just tend to pick my words a tad bit more carefully sometimes.

I am a rule breaker, so instead of nominating people, I’m opening this up for anyone to nominate themselves. Those who wish to nominate themselves, here are my three questions for you.

  1. What about life brings a smile to your face?
  2. If you could pick three things to take with you to a deserted island, what would you bring?
  3. Retell a life experience that altered your perspective, and how did it change your perspective?

Well, that’s all for this award today! Happy blogging!

A Fair Day PT 8

Charlie looked at Niel in surprise, his brow raised. Niel’s face was contorted in a look of confusion and bewilderment as he gently pushed one of the great big doors open. What met their gaze caused both men to nearly collapse to the floor in laughter. Across the great room there stood poor Mary trying with all her might to light a fire with a wet tinder box. It was quite a sight for the gentlemen to behold, the moderately tall female jumping up and down, her skirts flouncing about as she would kick at the bits of wood that refused to light. She hadn’t noticed the men yet, who were doing their best to keep their laughter quiet. Suddenly she swore, loud enough it echoed down the hall faintly, “Shit!” At this moment both Charlie and Niel lost all sense of composure and were crumpled heaps of laughter now, howling as they looked on. Mary whirled around, her face turning a shade of scarlet that couldn’t possibly be seen as healthy. Her bright eyes became wider than saucers, she gathered up her skirts and ran from the room with a hand clasped over her mouth.

Charlie did his best to regain his composure, nudging at Niel to get the fire started as he got up to his feet, still laughing as he went after the maid. He called after her, “Mary, Mary come back now. Don’t be embarrassed.

Niel was left in the grand room, by himself. It took him a few minutes to be able to breathe again. Once he was capable, he finally stood up and headed over to the fireplace, holding his now hurting sides from laughing so hard. He fiddled with the tinder box, trying to see what it was that was making it not light and realized the wood in the tinder box was damp. He shook his head and knew that he would have to go out and get some proper dry wood in order to start a good fire to keep the great room warm for all its expected occupants.

Charlie kept chasing Mary, following the sound of her footfalls through the hallway that led from the great room to the massive dinning room, turning just in time to catch her as she ran into the kitchen. The cook was startled when she saw an out of breath and panting Mary quickly followed by the chasing Charlie run into the kitchen. “My Lord, Good Heavens what on earth are you two doing in here at this hour?

Charlie grinned and held up a finger, asking for a moment as he lightly grabbed the maid’s hand and led her back into the dinning hall intended for great feasts. Mary opened her mouth to say something, but he quickly put his finger he used to request a moment over her mouth, “Shh, it’s okay. I won’t tell anyone what we heard. Lieutenant and I are going to get the fire started in the Grand Room. I apologize for startling you, but you must realize what a sight it was!

The maid shuffled her feet and looked at the ground, “Aye, yes Sir, but it is improper of a lady, maid or not, to speak in such a fashion, Sir.

He shook his head, “It is, but I feel it may very well have been warranted. Come back with me to the Grand Room and rest a moment while Lieutenant Niel and I help in getting the fire together.

She nodded and allowed him to guide her back to the room where he got her seated in a chair. Looking around, he saw his cousin headed for the foyer, to which he told Mary to wait there and he would return as he walked after Niel. When he caught up with his cousin, he whispered, “Don’t say anything to anyone about what the maid said, I think she is quite embarrassed about the whole situation and would rather not cause her grief.

Niel nodded, then handed Charlie one of the hatchets he’d found by the entrance to the grand room, “We’re going to need to chop some wood. Hope you’re up for the task.” he joked, poking at his cousins strong muscular arms. “Looks like we’ll be putting those sad excuse for muscles to work tonight.

Charlie let out a groan and accepted the hatchet and followed him outside and off to the side of the inn where they had a wooden chopping block, stacks of logs just waiting to be split. Niel lit the lantern that stuck out from the side of the inn. Both of them took off their jackets and waistcoats, rolled up their sleeves and begun swinging. The two men took turns chopping logs into splits of three each. Not long and poor Charlie was overcome, having to take off his button-up. He could see there was a small speck of blood on the bandages. Shrugging it off, he resumed taking turns chopping splits of wood for the fire. Soon enough they had enough to make a decent stack of extra chopped wood to stack against the inn. Charlie leaned up against the building, after having stuck the hatchet into the chopping block. His cousin came over to him, prepared to give him a gentle ribbing before he noticed the bandages in the dim light of the lantern.

What happened to you?” He asked, a look of concern now covering his face.

Charlie lifted his head and grinned at Niel, “I was struck by a young lady wielding a parasol.” He let out a pained chuckle at the look of surprise on his cousins face. “Help me back inside, I’m sure Harold can find a way to get the wood inside. I’ll tell you about it on the way back to my room. I needed to change clothes anyway.”

Niel nodded and gathered up their jackets and waistcoats in one arm while he helped his cousin inside, bracing Charlie with his other arm as he was regaled with the incident that led to Janielle striking Charlie with her parasol and it’s ever so sharp point.

I was inspired to write this addition in part due to Mon nominating me for The Creative Blogger Award. So thank you, Mon, for nominating me and inspiring me to continue on with my mini-serial story chapter thingy. There aren’t really any rules as to what you have to do, or write or anything, but the title of the award itself is what prompted me to write today’s excerpt.

the-creative-blogger-award-e1437994823434 (1)

The rules are:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
  2. Add the logo to your post.
  3. Nominate ten (10) bloggers of your choice and
  4. Tell them about the nomination

Well… I think I’m just going to let people nominate themselves if they want the award. Nominating people has become tiresome lol but I love the award so I’m totally snagging it! HA! Take that, rules!

Black Cat, Blue Sea Award

Now this just sounds silly in my opinion. The title of the award, I mean. Seriously, doesn’t that sound just like the silliest name ever? Black Cat, Blue Sea Award!!! I giggle each time I read it, write it, or say it!

I’d like to throw a big thanks to Rashida Aka MaKenzye for nominating me for this award. I’d never heard of it until yesterday when I found out I was nominated for it! I’m so super stoked! Okay, so you’re probably wondering like I did, “What in the world is this award for? What’s it about?” Confused like me? Yea, I had to dig around in Rashida‘s own post to figure out just what in the world it was about. Here we go!

This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.

Well, I guess that does actually sound a lot like me. I love to blog, love to write, and most importantly, I love the idea that my words are out there and might comfort someone else, even if I never hear from them or know them. So thank you, Aka MaKenzye for nominating me and recognizing my insanity! Yay!

The Rules:

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate up to seven other bloggers.
  2. Anybody nominated answers three questions. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions. If any of the questions asked are offending or simply do not want to be answered, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

Well, I guess since she didn’t actually ask any specific three questions, I’ll just answer the three questions she was asked, then I’ll throw you all under the bus and make you answer something weird because I’m just evil like that. *devious giggle*

3 questions that I need to answer:

  1. Who was the first blog/blogger you heard of/read and did they inspire you to start?
  2. Do you see blogging as a future career or just a side hobby?
  3. What is your all time favorite album and why? How does it make you feel to listen to it?

Hmm… Okay, guess I can do this!

  1. Suze was the first blog/blogger I ever read, it was the blog about her beautiful colorful childrens keyboard that she got because she’s just that awesome. I found myself laughing and nearly dying at the same time, and soon running to the bathroom just to stop from tinkling on myself. Her whimsy and way with words made me think that maybe I too could one day be a blogger and be comically hilarious, or dubiously serious. You never know, my writing is kind of all over the place! She definitely was my inspiration for wanting to start blogging.
  2. Blogging isn’t a career, it’s something fun to do to cleanse the mind of all the insanity that keeps rattling about inside my brain! My full time job is my kids, and trust me, that is a full time job.
  3. My favorite album ? Uh… Disturb’s Darkness count? I grew up listening to that CD and I still to this day as an adult listen to it often. Of course, I don’t have the CD anymore, but I still love the songs and listen to them often. I don’t really know how to put into words how it makes me feel when I listen to it… It’s sort of a melancholy somber with a spark of hope? If that makes any sense what so ever. If you could actually get into my brain and feel how I feel when listening to that CD, you’d know just how hard it is to put into words!

Okay so now I get to ask any three questions of YOU (who ever I nominate, as I’ve not decided who yet) so here goes nothing, you better hold onto your britches because this might get crazy.

  1. What are your favorite 3 blogs and what makes them so uniquely special to you?
  2. What are three things you’ve learned during your time blogging that you never knew before?
  3. Do you have 3 favorite movies? If so, what are they and what makes them so amazing?

AND NOW! The pièce de résistance !!! For the poor souls I’m going to nominate.

Blogger Recognition Award

So I was shocked and amazed a day or so ago when I was nominated for this award. Shock and awe would aptly describe my feelings towards being given this award, to be honest. I figured awards like this were meant for… You know, good bloggers! Not whackados like me. Much thanks to Suze for nominating me, I freakin’ adore that woman.

blogger recognition award

Enough gushing and onto the rules, I suppose!

The rules for this award are:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Attach the award to the post.
  • Give a brief story on how your blog started.
  • Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you nominated them and provide a link to the award post you created.

Well, considering I’m pretty sure Suze already nominated anyone I would have nominated myself, I’m not following that rule. Anyone who would like the award is free to accept it instead! HA! Take that rule!

Okay so I’m supposed to thank Suze, which I think I already did, but in case I didn’t, thank you Suze you adorable person you! yay

I’m already writing a post, and attached the award so I guess that’s done already… Hmm… A brief story on how my blog started… Lets see…

My Story

One day in a far far away world, a little person asked a big person about making a new world in a far and distant land. In this story the far far away world will be called Facebook, and the new world in the distant land will be WordPress. While traipsing through Facebook and mumbling and bumbling about with the little person’s friend, they asked how they came to be so infamous and amazing. The friend told the little person about this amazing place where they could shout their thoughts out into the big wide universe of worlds where many saw their words, and this place was called WordPress! The little person was amazed and awestruck at the idea of such a place where many people could hear the words of ones insanity, and thus the new little planet of Sunken Thought emerged.

Advice

Be yourself but remember, don’t be daft. If you’re daft, I recommend not blogging because daft people are more likely to clash than to mingle. Also, live long and prosper and “wibbly wobbly timey whimey”. That is all.

Okay, so yea, feel free to nominate yourselves through this post if ya wanna, otherwise, I’m tired and my brain function is dwindling. Love you crazy people, and hope you had an amazing weekend!

The Lovely Blog Award

I was shocked a couple days ago while surfing through my reader to find that I have been nominated for an award! Not just ANY award, but the One Lovely Blog Award! I was nominated by one of my stalkers/stalkiees, Nam H Nguyen! Nam was originally nominated by another talented blogger, Sagrikachugh. Shame too because I’d of nominated Nam for this award myself but instead was nominated BY Nam for the award. Shoot… That makes this award getting so difficult.

Anywho, so yea, back on track. I was surfing my reader for recent content on my time to myself and saw that Nam nominated me and I got all giddy inside. I would’ve posted about this sooner, but being a stay at home mom I tend to stay pretty darn busy! Sorry for the delay!

RULES

1

Well, the first thing I’m supposed to do (I’m usually not good with rules, so I’m doing my best here. Give me a break) is thank Nam H Nguyen for the award. THANK YOU NAM! I love you too! 😀

Okay, so now I’m supposed to share 7 things about myself… Uhm…

1.) I love veggies. I’m a veggie fanatic. My favorite is brussel sprouts!

2.) I love to cook food, especially meats. One of my favorite meats to make is pork chops because nom nom nom.

3.) I am unreligiously conservative. Like… Insanely so.

4.) I love the color black. Okay, it’s technically a non-color, but I still love black.

5.) I’m sort of kinda crazy, but I think you knew that already.

6.) I drink heavy amounts of coffee in order to keep up with my kids.

7.) I’m a smoker, but I do my best to always smoke outside so as to not subject my kids to the negatives of cigarettes.

Okay, so now I’m supposed to nominate 15 other bloggers for this award… Which is really hard for me because I don’t really get time to stalk too many people, but I will for sure nominate all those who I stalk religiously.

Suze : I stalk her often, and as I ought to, after all she is my biggie-me, as she so nicely put it once.

Greta : This woman writes and posts all kinds of inspirational blog posts, and is often a pleasure to read.

Zora : I haven’t been stalking her for long, but I love her blog posts. They’re always filled with something beautiful.

Sprawly : This woman is kooky, brainy, and inspirational. She has survived, and overcame. I thoroughly enjoy reading her blogs. She is always taking some of the most gorgeous scenic photos, and I am dreadfully envious!

Mon : Another newbie in my list of stalkiees, but I’ve thus far thoroughly enjoyed reading and listening to her go on. She sure knows how to have a tangent!

Joy : A fellow mother, but with children probably about my age, who I find inspirational. I enjoy browsing her posts, as I usually find something insightful in them.

Lauren : I can’t even express my adoration for this womans blog, I linked a very specific story that made me absolutely fall in love with her blog and have since been stalking her.

randompenningofaconfusedmind : Another new stalkiee who I have been only following as of recent, but their posts make me grin and sometimes giggle. Definitely worth a peek!

That is all I can really think of right now o_o…. These are my most stalked people, that I enjoy reading. I know I follow more people, but they’re not very active and usually when I have the time to read their blogs, there aren’t any updates so I’m chalking it up to they’re just too busy or something. Either way, yup, these are my nominees. 😀

Sunshine Blogger Award

Well… Holy … How in the world? I’ve been nominated for an award, again! Golly gee wiz, I didn’t see that coming! I’m honestly surprised, considering how off the wall most of my posts are! Haha From my knowledge, the award is intended to not just acknowledge fellow bloggers but to acknowledge bloggers who are an inspiration, or “ray of sunshine” I suppose. I was nominated by ShoeOnTheMoon, who actually has a rather interesting blog! I actually spent … About 20 minutes reading it before remembering, “Oh yea, I was nominated by them for an award! Better get to it!” Either way, here goes!

Here are The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you .
  • Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award.
  • Write 11 new questions for them to answer.

  1. What was the most groundbreaking news that changed your life lately?Well, I would have to say the news that my Aunt has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. That kind of drastically crushed my world.
  2. What’s your favourite drink?Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
  3. Do you watch sports? Which team/athlete do you cheer for?Nope, I rather play than watch!
  4. Are you of conservative or liberal views?I would say I am of both views, to a degree. I’m more of a libertarian than either though.
  5. Who is your favourite author and why?Terry Brooks would have to be my favourite author, mainly because some of the stuff Terry writes, though fantasy, has really good lessons and a darn good story!
  6. Do you know the name of every bone in your body?Uhm… Nope.
  7. What’s the one flaw of modern society you’d like to see changed in the next 5 years?A true lack of humanitarianism. We spend too much time fighting and not nearly enough time celebrating the gift that is humanity.
  8. Who/what inspired you to start blog? Who/what still does?I had actually thought to write for some time, I just never really thought blogging would be the answer. I was inspired by my good friend and older doppleganger, Suze.
  9. What is the thing you had when you were a child that kids these days don’t have?Respect & manners. I see all kinds of kids today being absolute jerks to their parents for no good reason. I know I wasn’t a perfect little angel but I don’t think I was as bad as most the kids I see these days who openly hit parents and family members, lock them out of cars, and slew “I hate you” around when they don’t get their way.
  10. What was your highlight of today?Cuddling my girls while sitting back watching some Sofia the First.
  11. Is the glass half-empty or half-full?I prefer to wonder how much it weighs.

Apparently I’m supposed to nominate 11 people, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept. You’re free to simply ignore me! 😛

The people I’ve nominated, I’ve either openly followed, or shadow-followed like a stalker in the night, creeping upon their page like an unseen nightmare. Just kidding, I love all you bloggers out there in the blogosphere! You entertain me 😀

Anywho, onto MY questions for my nominees, should they choose to accept!

  1. If you could sum yourself up into one single word, what would that word be and why?
  2. What is it that drew you to the world of blogging?
  3. What was your intention for your blog, and have you strayed from your original ideas?
  4. Do you enjoy being apart of a large blogging community? Why/Why Not?
  5. Who is someone that inspires you? How do they inspire you?
  6. Sun, rain, or snow? Why?
  7. If you had the option to change one aspect of your blog, what would it be? Why?
  8. What is one of your favorite blog pages to read?
  9. Do you prefer to write long posts, or short?
  10. Giraffe, zebra, or horse? Why?
  11. Can you pat your head while rubbing your belly?
